Feature - Patricia Bader-Johnston, Director of Communications in Japan, IBM Corporation

Patricia Bader-Johnston has lived and worked in Japan for 21 years. She has held senior roles in major firms including IBM (where she is currently Director of Communications in Japan), Goldman Sachs as a vice president in Operations, Finance and Resources, Standard Chartered Bank as Head of Corporate Affairs for Japan, Australia and the Philippines, and British American Tobacco, as Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs. She also served in the Canadian Embassy in the culture and communications area, and worked for three years in a Japanese local government office.

CSR has formed a big part of her professional focus over the past few years, along with government and media relations and various change management initiatives. Patricia is an active volunteer with several local community organisations, including serving as vice chair of both the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACC) CSR Task Force and the ACCJ Government Relations Committee. She holds an MBA in International Business from McGill University, Canada and resides in Tokyo with her husband Brad and their four children.
